A complete systematic and structural check of your baling equipment is broken down as follows:

Hydraulic System:

  • Visual inspection for leaks while the system is pressurized
  • Check oil level
  • Check oil for contamination (see note)
  • Clean suction intake filter if applicable
  • Manually test all hydraulic components
  • Check all hoses and piping for chaffing, rubbing, deterioration and damage
  • Visually check and adjust system operating pressures to manufacturers specifications (if applicable)

Please note: Although our primary focus is to ensure that your equipment is operating safely, we also look at the performance of the equipment. Realizing that most service interruptions occur within the hydraulic system, Wavor Wire's service technicians can determine whether the hydraulic fluid is contaminated. It is a proven fact that 70% of all hydraulic system failure is due to contaminated oil (dirt, water, etc.)

Electrical System:
  • Check and re-torque all electrical connections
  • Inspect for corrosion on all components and connections
  • Inspect panel seals for cracks, splits, etc.
  • Check and adjust all limit switches
  • Clean off electric photo-eyes and reflector plates (if applicable)
  • Ensure all switches and lights are functioning and properly labeled
  • Perform all manual and automatic functions to ensure equipment is operating at full potential
  • Ensure that all operating personnel are fully aware of all safety and operating procedures.
Structural Integrity Inspection:
  • Inspect and re-torque all bolts and fasteners
  • Inspect all fasteners (pins, etc.) for excessive wear and fatigue
  • Visual inspection of all welds and critical stress points while under load/pressure
  • Inspect all chains and springs for excessive stretch and wear
  • Lube all chains, springs and ratchets
  • Ensure all guides are free of obstructions
  • Ensure all moving parts are operating freely
  • Lube all major moving parts (platen, guides, sidewalls, etc.)
  • Lube all pivoting points
  • Check cylinder alignment with platen
